Story behind the art
This art is inspired from the 18th century style of Pahari artworks. In this blissful scene, Parvathi is preparing a long necklace of demon heads to adorn husband Lord Shiva, as they enjoy a quiet moment together with their two young sons, the elephant-headed Ganesh and Karthikeya (Skanda). Each of Shiva’s family member has their own loyal animals they consider both a loyal pet and a guarding spirit.

Parvathi is seen here next to a resting lion whom she often mounts and rides into the battle field, which earned her the name Simhavahini. Shiva’s obedient disciple Nandi –The Ox is portrayed in a peaceful sit while keeping an eye out in case of any intrusion. Nandi’s unquestionable loyalty and companionship pleased Shiva and bequeathed himself the name Nandeeshwara which is an amalgamation of his dear acquaintance’s name and the Lord’s name himself. Mouse is often associated with negativity as they destroy crops and cause obstacles when concocting food. By having a mouse as his Mystical Vehicle, Ganesh is illustrated erasing all the negativity, which is why he is often praised with the name Vighna Nayaka – The conqueror of obstacles. At a very young age, Karthikeya has defeated the evil demon which he later transformed into a beautiful peacock which he uses as a Vehicle can be seen in this art. He is seen here holding his father’s celestial drum and powerful Trident. Each member of this divine family, having defeated all evil and procured peace and prosperity in the galaxy, are shown here having a serendipitous evening. The overall vibe associated with this one is of tranquility and domestic harmony.
